Christmas Memories

It's always fun to share memories and what an awesome time of year to share!  Christmas has always been my favorite time of year.  I grew up in the Southern Colorado where the seasons were very evident.  The beautiful fall let us know that Christmas was just around the corner.

Christmas as a child was filled with all kinds of fun activities. Trips up to the top of the Rocky Mountains to hunt for the perfect Christmas tree.  We would bundle up with layers and trample through snow up to my neck, dad and grandpa would cut the tree with a chainsaw and load it up for the trip home. Grandma's Christmas tree was a huge tumble weed!  She would spray it with fake snow and decorate it with the most amazing ornaments from her life.  It was so beautiful and delicate.

Next was the days leading up to Christmas filled with cooking and baking.  All my aunts and cousins would gather to make homemade pies, cookies, fudge, candy, and all kinds of traditional trimmings for the big feast on Christmas Day.  My Grandma cooked on an old coal stove, and everything was made from scratch and smelled amazing.

Christmas Eve we all  piled in Grandma's station wagon and drove around town to see all the Christmas lights.  Then back at home we sat and watched the Santa Tracker from Norad tell us how close Santa was, when he was close all the kids were rushed to bed in anticipation of Christmas Morning.

Christmas Morning everyone gathered to open presents, after the flurry of wrapping paper flying Grandma would slip to the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone and start the turkey.  After breakfast it was watching the Macy's Parade, playing games, setting up the long table with Grandmas special dishes and gold silverware and the anticipation of all the yummy food we had been smelling all week long.  After the feast it was more games, football, and of course napping.  Christmas was hard work. I will never forget those wonderful Christmas' filled with love and family.

The layout I am sharing is a collage of Christmas spent with my hubby, sons, and Grandsons as all my photos from my childhood are tucked away in storage.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I used my kit "Santa's North Pole for the graphics and layout:)

This kit is also available in a Bundle with extra addons!
