Layering Papers and Using Borders and Clusters Tutorial

Hello everyone, this is a quick tutorial on layering and using my borders in the My Memories Software.  Creating quick gorgeous layouts can be easy with this awesome software.

For this tutorial I used my  Holiday Happenings Bundle Pack

1. Step one is pretty simple, Add a background

2.  Your next paper will be added as an embellishment.  Once it is added double click on it and a window will pop up called "Embellishment Settings"  Select Units: Inches.  Make sure the "Keep Proportions" box is checked.  In the width box type in 11.5, it will auto full the Height, close the box. You will notice you paper has been resized.

3. Next in the top menu click on "Arrange", "Align", then Center Vertically on Page.
Repeat and selcect "Center Horizontally on Page".  Your paper should be perfectly centered now.
Add a shadow to give it some depth.

4.  Repeat step 4 with your third paper.  You should now have a nice background for your page.

5.  Next you add your border and adjust it to the bottom of the page. About the bottom of the third of the page is very nice.  And give it a soft shadow to pop it off the page.

6.  Add your frames and place them where you think they will go.  There is always some adjusting as you go along.

7.  Now add a cluster to top off the frames and adjust the sizes.  I rotated one to place on the side of one of the frames to balance out the graphics.  Also once I placed and adjusted the clusters I had to move around the frames to get good placement on the layout.  And added some soft shadows for that little pop.
HINT: Hold down shift to select more than one embellishment and move groups around.

8.  Next I added photo boxes, this is where you would add your photos. Add them and adjust their sized then move them behind the frames.

9.  Last I added some text.  You might decide to add a title or some jounaling.
HINT:  The photo frames would be a nice place to add some text.  Simply add a background and size it to fit in the frame and add your journaling.
And here is the finished layout, cute and simple.

Christmas Memories

It's always fun to share memories and what an awesome time of year to share!  Christmas has always been my favorite time of year.  I grew up in the Southern Colorado where the seasons were very evident.  The beautiful fall let us know that Christmas was just around the corner.

Christmas as a child was filled with all kinds of fun activities. Trips up to the top of the Rocky Mountains to hunt for the perfect Christmas tree.  We would bundle up with layers and trample through snow up to my neck, dad and grandpa would cut the tree with a chainsaw and load it up for the trip home. Grandma's Christmas tree was a huge tumble weed!  She would spray it with fake snow and decorate it with the most amazing ornaments from her life.  It was so beautiful and delicate.

Next was the days leading up to Christmas filled with cooking and baking.  All my aunts and cousins would gather to make homemade pies, cookies, fudge, candy, and all kinds of traditional trimmings for the big feast on Christmas Day.  My Grandma cooked on an old coal stove, and everything was made from scratch and smelled amazing.

Christmas Eve we all  piled in Grandma's station wagon and drove around town to see all the Christmas lights.  Then back at home we sat and watched the Santa Tracker from Norad tell us how close Santa was, when he was close all the kids were rushed to bed in anticipation of Christmas Morning.

Christmas Morning everyone gathered to open presents, after the flurry of wrapping paper flying Grandma would slip to the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone and start the turkey.  After breakfast it was watching the Macy's Parade, playing games, setting up the long table with Grandmas special dishes and gold silverware and the anticipation of all the yummy food we had been smelling all week long.  After the feast it was more games, football, and of course napping.  Christmas was hard work. I will never forget those wonderful Christmas' filled with love and family.

The layout I am sharing is a collage of Christmas spent with my hubby, sons, and Grandsons as all my photos from my childhood are tucked away in storage.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I used my kit "Santa's North Pole for the graphics and layout:)

This kit is also available in a Bundle with extra addons!
